The Story behind “Will Be Spring Again”
Carl Brister “Will Be Spring Again”
Carl Brister’s “Will Be Spring Again” is a toe-tapping song of hope that can be sung every day of the year. The words were inspired by his own true story of when he placed a successful career in education on hold to follow his musical dreams. “Dreams don’t happen overnight.” Carl shares, “They take time, and I went through some loooong winters. But one day, while working out in the gym, an older wise man from Georgia named Lee told me ‘No matter how long your winter might be, if you keep moving forward you’re one step closer. Soon it will be spring again! Carl explains, “I wrote the words to the song right there in the gym!”
Produced by Brister & Scott Packham, “Will Be Spring Again” also marks the professional debut of Carl’s teenage son Jordan “J-Maestro” Brister as co-writer and co-producer. Carl adds, “We had a lot of fun and it was a great father-son bonding experience. Working together gave me a chance to mentor and prepare him for his own success.”
“Carl’s voice and message continue to resonate with audiences that are looking for a glimmer of hope in the world.” – Akim Bryant, Pandora
In 2023 Carl Brister’s R&B cover of Janet Jackson’s classic “Let’s Wait Awhile” achieved impressive reviews from fans and critics alike. His 2022 release, “Trauma”, is a beautifully reflective message penned to uplift fellow survivors of childhood sexual abuse. In 2021, NBC’s Access Hollywood featured Carl Brister as “One To Watch” for his powerful “Enough Is Enough.”
“Brister’s love of music is only matched by his love of his community” – Monica Morales WPIX 11.
Carl is very active in his community through his own non-profit organization, Music Village, which provides scholarships to young artists. It also hosts The Love+Unity Fest, an event Carl founded in 2016 to bring the community together through music of all genres in response to racial intolerance and other forms of divisiveness. Now in it’s 10th year, Love+Unity has been proclaimed as an official township holiday in Carl’s community of West Orange, NJ.
Carl Brister’s upbeat “Will Be Spring Again” is accompanied by a visually stunning music video directed by Fredy “Mgosi” Mfuko. The light-hearted Will Be Spring Again also marks Carl’s Country music debut and is on the 2024 Grammy® awards first-round ballot in three categories: Best Country Song, Best Solo Country Performance, and Best Video.
